Being a parent is one of the most exciting yet simultaneously incredibly challenging jobs you will ever undertake, and whether your baby is already here or else you are currently pregnant, there is a wide range of things to consider.
If you are fortunate enough to have your mom very much in your life and are close to her, she will have no doubt at least try to impart some wisdom on what to do and, conversely, what not to as a new mom.
However, there will be things she left out for many reasons, so, with this in mind, continue reading to learn the top four things your mom never told you about becoming a mom yourself.

1. Sleeping When Your Baby Sleeps is Not As Easy as it Sounds
If you are someone who is naturally able to take regular naps throughout the day and do not need a solid amount of sleep each night, then it may well be possible to take short naps when your baby is safe and sound asleep.
However, if this does not describe you, then even when your baby is quietly snoozing away, you are far more likely to be laying wide awake, wishing you could fall asleep but never quite managing to.
2. You Will Need Much More of Everything
You only have to type into a search engine something like ‘top things I need to prepare for a baby’ to find numerous ‘extensive’ lists claiming to contain absolutely everything you could possibly need ahead of the arrival. As for essential items such as strollers, find the perfect baby stroller for your newborn at ANB Baby, and obviously, you only need one, but there are many other accessories that you need to bulk buy.
It may well be true that some of these lists do include most things you will require, but what none of them seemingly do is not to inform you of just how much of everything you will need.
3. You Will Be on Breathing Patrol For At Least a Year
For some reason, although obviously, it comes from a perfectly natural and adorable place, you will not be able to be satisfied that your baby is alive and well in their cot when they are asleep when you can see their little tummy rising and falling in rhythm.
Instead, you are far more likely to spend copious amounts of time that you should be spending either relaxing or catching up on household chores, standing over your baby and staring at their mouth to check they are definitely breathing.
4. Ask As Many Questions as You Want
The last point on this list is perhaps the most important and relevant of them all.
As a new mom, it feels as if it is expected of you to automatically take to new motherhood like the proverbial duck to water, but in actual fact, you have never done this before, and as a result, you will have a multitude of questions.
No question is too stupid, too small, or too obvious to ask and make sure that, instead of getting yourself worked up and worried, ask professionals, family members, and friends who are already moms anything you want to know.
